Alert Bay Artfest began in 2008 in response to seeing artists having to leave the island to exhibit their artwork. 10 local artists and art lovers organized the first annual Artfest to coincide with Seafest in 2008 (www.alertbayseafest.com). The venue was the former Lion’s Den and the reviews were rave! The following year needed a bigger venue to accommodate the growing interest from local artists, and with the help of Vance Conway, the Netloft was transformed into an art haven for 3 days, showcasing the work of 18 local artists. 2010 featured 25 Alert Bay resident artists and 2011 included 29 artists – many different from the previous years! Each year since has seen more artists join and an average of 40 artists taking part and an average of $4000 of art sold within the 3 days, with artist’s keeping 100% profit of the sales… and all artists are from Alert Bay!

*DUE: Registration fee, page 1 of application and bio and headshot. May be dropped off early to the ArtLoft.*
(Registration fee is : $25 for members, $35 for non-members, $15 for kids 15 and under ** non-members and kids registration fees include membership to ABAS)
Sunday JULY 21st 2019 2-3:00pm: Artwork DROP OFF at ArtLoft Gallery.
Must be HANGING READY with proper hanging hardware attached. NO EXCEPTIONS FOR LATE ART.
** The one requirement for participation in Alert Bay Artfest is that you are a resident or home owner in Alert Bay, at least a good percentage of the year. We believe in limiting this one special opportunity to exclusively Alert Bay Artists because being in such a small, remote community, we just don’t have the opportunties that people in larger communities/areas have. For artists from elsewhere interested in taking part, please consider becoming a member and submitting artwork to be part of any of our themed shows at our beautiful well trafficked ArtLoft Gallery.
